Following the elections in Cheltenham on 1st May there have been discussions ahead of the 8th May meeting of the council to decide what happens next.

Liberal Democrat Leader, Cllr Steve Jordan said, "The view of the PAB was that it was up to the Liberal Democrats to form the administration and the Conservatives expressed a similar view. Following the Liberal Democrat gains last week, we have half the seats on the council. I feel we have a responsibility to give a lead and will therefore recommend our team to council on Thursday.

The team is:-

Leader Cllr Steve Jordan

Community Development & Housing Cllr John Webster

(Deputy Leader)

Finance and Culture Cllr John Rawson

Sustainability Cllr Paul Massey

Built Environment Cllr John Morris

Sports and Safety Cllr Andrew McKinlay

Corporate Services Cllr Colin Hay

Planning Cllr Lloyd Surgenor

Licensing Cllr Tina Franklin

Audit Cllr Wendy Flynn

If elected to office Liberal Democrats pledge to make sure the whole council gets a say in the key decisions. Deputy leader Cllr John Webster said,

"When one party does not have an overall majority it is particularly important that every member of the council can make his or her voice heard and influence what the council does. We promise to restore the proper authority of the full council."

Liberal Democrats will also tackle key issues for Cheltenham:-

• The fight to protect our greenbelt and oppose urban extensions.

• The poor state of our roads and pavements

• Improving kerbside recycling

Steve Jordan commented, "I am proud to put forward a strong team for Cheltenham. There is a lot of work to do but it would be an honour to get the opportunity to do it.
