Petition launched to stop police cuts

Gloucestershire's Liberal Democrats have started a campaign calling for the Home Secretary to stop the cuts to the county’s police force and properly fund it.

Figures reveal that there are now nearly 250 fewer PCs in Gloucestershire than 10 years ago and the numbers of police community support officers (PCSOs) have reduced by 16% since 2013.

  • Liberal Democrats are calling on the Government to provide extra resources to help Gloucestershire’s overstretched police force do their job.

The Government is inflicting deep cuts to our police force. We are seeing fewer PCs and PCSOs. Gloucestershire’s Police & Crime Commissioner has also said that due to unprecedented budget cuts there is a risk to neighbourhood policing.

The budgets are being reduced, but the demands placed on police are ever increasing.
