We are delighted to announce that from Monday 16th October your recycling service will be changing for the better.
At the local elections last year, we promised that if we won we'd work to bring the recycling of mixed plastics and heavy cardboard to the kerbside. The new service will mean that those things as well as fabrics, batteries and old electrical items will also be collected . To allow for cardboard collection, a specially designed reusable weighted sack will be issued to households from early September.
In the next few weeks, the Council will be sending you important information explaining the full service. We will also be in touch to provide further details about the changes.
Councillor Steve Jodan said: "The improvements that we have been able to introduce will be good news for the environment and for the tax payer. By diverting waste from landfill, nearly £1 million has already been saved. By boosting recycling further, even more money can be saved and used for local services.
So, it's all change from 16th October but until then please use your green boxes in the way you always have." More info at: www.cheltenham.gov.uk/waste-recycling-redesign
